Saint Catherine of Genoa Engraved Pendant Medal

Polished Stainless Steel Religious Patron Charm

CA$40.00CA$20.00

This is a medal that I made, for the model I used the facial reconstruction of St Catherine of Genoa by Cicero Moraes, I kept the simple veil and the ruff. The background is part of her treatise in purgatory where she explains the choice of will before death, where one can choose to be good or choose to be evil and you have up to the time of death to change your will, but the second you pass on the souls will becomes the will of God, and so depending on your choice during life the soul can be cleansed in purgatory or the soul may be denied entry to purgatory all together.

the reverse of the pendant can be engraved, up to 88 characters

Diameter: 30mm/1.18 inches

Material: Stainless Steel Medal of the painting of St Catherine of Siena by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo

Feast Day: September 15

Catherine came from a pius noble house that historically had 72 cardinals and 2 popes, as such Catherine was interested in becoming a nun, however due to unfortunate events, her family married her off to settle a fued, she married Giuliano Adorno who from another noble family, and his lifestyle was more playboy style which Catherine was unfamiliar with and probably uninterested, their personalities did not match and they did not have children. However Giuliano's lifestyle caught up with him and as he was close to deaths door he had decided to make a change of lifestyle with Catherine, as Catherine mentioned in her book you have the will to choose to be good or to be evil up until you take your last breath, so maybe he thought he wasn't going to survive but he did and a man generally honors their word. Genoa at the time (1473) had a plague outbreak and both Catherine and her husband set off to live close to the Hospital of Pammatone, with God's grace they did not die from the plague, her husband died after 24 years of service to the sick, and Catherine 13 years after him, and throughout those years alone she continued her good work.
